The TREE OF HOPE provides a way to remember the loved ones we have lost. Trees are displayed in the waiting area display cupboard at the Three Hills Health Centre during the months of December and January. The names of loved ones are displayed on ornaments hung on the trees. All donations are used to help meet the needs in the PALLIATIVE CARE programs in Three Hills and surrounding areas. The Tree of Hope display will be at the Three Hills Farmers’ Christmas Market (Bethel EM Church,123 - 4th Ave. South, Three Hills) on November 29 and 30. Community members will have the opportunity to make tax deductible donations to the Three Hills and District Palliative Care Society at this time. (Donations may also be dropped off at the Administration desk at Three Hills Health Centre). One major project this year will be to purchase a new wheeled, reclining, comfort chair for palliative patient’s use in the Health Centre. My dear wife, our mother and grandmother, Rosalee Olive Eidse Klassen, was born on November 9, 1951 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Norman and Doris Bronson Eidse. She was the third daughter born to them, in a family of six. The angels came to take her home on her 68th birthday, November 9, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. She peacefully passed away at the Westview Care Community in Linden, Alberta. Mom spent her childhood in Crooked Creek, Alberta and in Greenland, Manitoba. She received her ten years of formal education at the Ridgevalley School in Crooked Creek, walking a mile and a quarter to school the first few years. During her youth years, she loved to sing with her three younger siblings. She gave her heart to Jesus at the tender age of twelve and was baptized upon the confession of her faith, on April 19, 1964, by Minister Ed P. Barkman, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Mom cherished her Faith until the end. Mom enjoyed her Licensed Practical Nurses training in Edmonton and also her time spent working in Fort Vermilion, AB. She was joined in marriage to me, Orville Klassen, on March 31, 1974, at the Rosedale congregation in Crooked Creek, Alberta. We enjoyed forty-five years of happy married life. To this union, four daughters and one son were born. Mom anticipated the birth of every one of her fifteen grandchildren: eleven boys and four girls. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her sixteenth grandchild. We spent most of our married life on the farm west of Linden. We moved to the town of Linden in December of 2017. Mom loved sewing and quilting and crafted many beautiful projects, which she generously gave away to many friends. Mom was a faithful attendee at monthly sewings. She loved to buy and give gifts to her dear grandchildren and others. Volunteering was important to her and she donated many hours at Westview Care Community. Our parents enjoyed traveling and made many trips to visit their children and grandchildren. A highlight was their trip to Europe; they made many lasting friendships. Another was a special trip to find and meet long-lost cousins. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Orville; her mother, Doris Eidse of Ridgevalley Home in Crooked Creek; children, Merita and Merlin Jantz, De Smet, South Dakota, Lucille and Jason Riggs, Hesston, Kansas, Beverly and Darcy Goossen, Linden, Alberta, Lisa and Lavern Toews, Westlock, Alberta, Richard and Vicki Klassen, Linden, Alberta; fifteen grandchildren; her two sisters: Phyllis Isaac, and Linda and Arvid Thiessen, Crooked Creek, Alberta; two brothers: Denver and Noreen Eidse, Lavonia, GA, Louis and Ethel Eidse, Crooked Creek, Alberta; her in-laws:, Susan and Burton Toews, Linden, Alberta; Lloyd and Joan Klassen, Beaverlodge, Alberta; Reta and Delton Boese, Linden, Alberta; Dennis and Hannah Toews, Creston, British Columbia; uncles, aunts and cousins, many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Lewis and Ruth Klassen, Linden, Alberta. Those gone before are her father, Norman Eidse, her parents-in-law: Frank and Clara Klassen, her sister, Esther Munyon, one sister-in-law: Verna Toews, and one brother-in-law, Harvey Isaac. Funeral Services were held Friday, November 15, 2019 at Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Sunnyslope, AB with interment in Linden Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetltd.ca 1n20c
