Pregnant? Not sure what to do? I understand because I’ve been there. I’m here to help. 443-7165 or text 443-8461.

In the early mid 70’s I was a skinny longhaired kid working on the S&T rigs with Jim Hanger, a farmer and rig worker like so many in those days and probably still are.

I was a motorman and derrick man on Jim’s crew along with at one point, Richard M, big Tom S, before that my lead roughneck boss was Stan B..

What a crew. They spent an extraordinarily amount of time in the doghouse talking about tractors and cattle and tons of other farmer stuff. At 3 in the morning, 40 below we always circulated longer than necessary because the well ‘was unloading”…which was more tractor talk. It was a relaxed and great crew to work with.

Jim was a great teacher..he always explained, no matter how many times, how things worked, how to do things properly. I remember him telling me like it was today..”Kelly, you need to use your eyes and ears too, not just your brain..listen to the motors, look at the machinery and your brain will figure things out”

To this day I listen.

Jim was always late getting to work, trust me I rode with him. We would burn to work going as fast as the truck would allow and we would head back home in the same way.

One time just west of Huxley, we had just got off afternoons, dead of winter, slippery roads, moon out, a beautiful evening…until…we headed into a sharp curve in front of a sizable drop off. Needless to say we didn’t make it. “ we are not gunna make it hold on!” I think we rolled twice down the embankment. Dust from the floor was eye level along with things that had been forgotten.

We got out quick because the fuel tank was in the back..full.. but Jim yells “its ok we ain’t gunna burn look!” The fuel tank was sitting right side up just below the road. I can still see the huge smile on Jims face lit up by the 2 am moon.

When Jim was set up as a tool pusher he promoted me to driller. That changed my life.

Since then, I went from skinny little rigs to deep onshore rigs, offshore deep water semi submersibles and harsh environment jack ups.

All through my travels in so many different countries Jim was always interested..”lets meet for coffee when you are visiting Three Hills” and we did and we caught up many times.

I have met CEO’s, Prime Ministers, Premiers , (the best was meeting Ralph in South Africa) and wealthy private investors who visited the rig sites in slippers..have not got a clue on how many different nationalities I have worked with..I have had a rich, outstanding and rewarding career..and its because of you had faith in me.

Adios amigo mío.. tu eres con dios..guádame un siento en el “doghouse”

Su amigo Kelly
