Arts Alive Library features the art of Jessica Penner

The libraries of Kneehill County are looking a little brighter these days with the help of our local young artists. Initiated by the Arts Alive Board the displays, which have been featured in Three Hills, Trochu and Carbon are just a small sampling of blossoming young artists.
I would like to express what a great honour it is to be asked to submit some of our daughter Jessica's art pieces for this project. Ironically, it is in this month dedicated to the awareness of Down Syndrome and I'm grateful that there are people who see beyond her disability to see the potential she possesses. Three artists submitted work and from what I saw, there are some very talented youth in our community.
Jessica has been painting for about 5 years and especially enjoys bright colourful pieces. If you know her, it fits her personality as well. She has experimented with acrylics on canvas and paper as well as water colors and batiks. Some of these are projects from school and others are pieces she is interested in. Some water colors we made into greeting cards available at IDA. (If there are any left.)
It is wonderful to live in a community that values people and promotes the potential of these budding young artists. Thank you to those of you who take the time and effort to make our community a better place.
