The Three Hills Canada 150 Summer Celebration was a big success from start to finish.

The Three Hills Ball ‘n’ Bash saw 16 Mixed Slo-pitch teams battle it out from Friday evening to Sunday’s final. The “A” event went to the Swalwell Mud Hens, “B” went to the Bulldogs, “C” went to Kapapach and the “D” event was claimed by the Bench Warmers. Action wrapped up at about 6 pm Sunday.

Saturday’s Pancake Breakfast served about 350 plates. Proceeds from the IGA sponsored event went to the “B is for Brady Memorial Fund” in support of the Rotary Flames House.

The Canada 150 Parade, sponsored by the Three Hills and District Chamber of Commerce, saw lots of entries with Sandstone IDA Pharmacy winning the Best Overall float. Hillside Lanes won the Spirit Award. Three Hills Cruise Weekend won the Organizations and Clubs Award and Peter’s Pharmacy picked up the Commercial Award. The huge parade crowd was thrilled with the appearance of the “Lawnmower Man”, Theunis Wessels, aboard the Kneehill Historical Society float.

The Knox United Church luncheon saw a steady crowd and their Anderson Park concession was a total sell-out.

The annual Kid’s Carnival was non-stop fun with lots of children enjoying Ken Sanderman’s wonderful Train Rides, Bouncies, carnival games, face painting and prizes for everyone.

The Anderson Park Amphitheatre was kept busy with performances by Paul Dempsey, Isajah MacDonald and Unmatched Numbers.

A sprinkler park was established to keep all ages cool on a very hot afternoon.

The Town of Three Hills also offered Free Public Swimming at the Aquatic Centre on Saturday, July 8 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
