5th Annual Rosebud Chamber Music Festival returns to Three Hills, August 4

James T Shields

On August 4th the Rosebud Chamber Music festival returns to the Three Hills for the festival’s fifth year. This dynamic and breathtaking performance will take place at 7:30 at the Three Hills Arts Academy.

The RCMF brings world-class musicians to Rural Alberta to share the joy and beauty of chamber music. The musicians are particularly excited to play again for appreciative Three Hills and Trochu audiences who seem to drink in the rich and powerful music. Last year’s standing ovation performance included pieces by Brahms, Schubert, and Haydn.

Returning to the festival this year is Arnold Choi with his new position as principal cellist for the Calgary Philharmonic. Other returning artists are artistic director Keith Hamm on Viola, with Sheila Jaffé and Aaron Schwebel on violins. Aaron will be playing on a 1753 Joannes Baptista Gaudagnini, currently on loan from the Canadian Council for the Arts Bank. RCMF is pleased to announce newcomers James T. Shields on the clarinet and Julie Hereish on the cello.

This year’s festival includes a music reading party at the Rosebud Mercentile at 7:30pm on Monday, July 31st. This event is a mirthful and laid-back way to experience chamber music and mingle with the musicians.

Other opportunities to soak in the music of the masters are:

Thursday, August 3rd 7:30 - Drumheller - Forum Space at The Canadian Badlands Passion Play Site and  Sunday August 6th 7:30 - Rosebud Church
