The 49th Annual Trochu Flower, Baking and Photo Show opened to the public from 2 to 4 pm on Wednesday August 15. Supper was being served at 6:00 pm.

This annual event is sponsored by the Trochu Elks and the Trochu Ag Society. They cover the costs for the hall rental, the printing of the show booklets and the hiring of the Alberta Horticultural Association (AHA) judges. The Trochu Society is an affiliate of the AHA.

Leona Pryor, as chief organizer of the show, indicated that the response or submissions for this year was close to that of last year, although the weather has had an effect on the availability of some garden produce. Others have commented on the lack of Saskatoons and some other fruit. The gladiolus display was down again this year as well.

The range of product and the large number of categories in each division, allows for a great variety of submissions and many prize ribbons to be awarded.

Anyone having viewed the baking section, the first one to be seen upon entering the hall, would have their appetites whetted, and for these, there just happened to be some home baking and tea available for a small donation.
