Scholarships presented at Acme Awards Ceremony

Memorial Scholarship 2018

Acme High School held their 2017/2018 Awards ceremony October 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

All of the awards below are given out based on the performance of the students in their 2017/2018 school year.

Most Improved Award sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal Acme Branch. This award is presented to grade 10 & 11 students that showed the most improvement throughout the school year. It is presented by Darlene Braul, Branch Manager Acme Branch to Gr. 10– Logan Schwartz; Gr. 11–Jeffrey Bueckert.

Most Improved Award sponsored by Westview Co-Operative Association Limited. This award is presented to a grade 12 student that showed the most improvement and is currently attending post-secondary education. It is presented by David Friesen to Lionel Seaward who is attending SAIT.

Meritorious Achievement Award sponsored by Hannah Transport. This award is presented to a grade 11 student that displayed the greatest effort throughout the entire school year. It is presented by Pam Wade to Colton Barkman & Ben Wolstenholme

Acme Masons Math Award sponsored by Acme Masonic Lodge No. 60. These awards reward those with the highest mark in Math 10-1 & 20-1. Presented by Kurt Ratzlaff to Gr. 10–Gabrielle Wade & Calvin Du 93%.

Gr. 11–Warren Peters 85%

Biology 30 Award sponsored by Bruce & Jane Allan and the Acme Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #216 for the highest mark, presented by Ed Heck to Ross Berreth 89% and is attending University in Calgary in the Electrical Engineering program.

Chemistry 30 Award sponsored by Kneehill Soil Services to the student with the highest mark, presented by Shari Brown to Ross Berreth 89% who is attending University of Calgary.

Charles Balderson Memorial Award for Social 30 sponsored by Acme Legion. This award is presented to the student with the highest mark in Social 30-1. Presented by Phyllis Deines to Ross Berreth 89% who is attending University of Calgary.

Acme School Council Awards for highest overall marks in Grade 10 & 11. Sponsored by Acme Parent Advisory Council, presented by Kurt Ratzlaff to Gr. 10 - Gabrielle Wade 95%; Gr. 11-Warren Peters 87%.

Village of Acme Community Service Award sponsored by the Village of Acme, to the student who in their grade 11 school year showed the most volunteerism and good citizenship to the town of Acme. Presented by Mayor Bruce McLeod to Deslynn Fuller.

Village of Linden Leadership Award sponsored by the Village of Linden, to the student in their grade 11 school year who showed the strongest leadership skills. Presented by Pam Wade & Village Councillor Darwyn Moon to Kristen Boyd.

Kneehill County Scholarship program, sponsored by the Kneehill County and awarded to a student who in grade 12 was a resident of Kneehill County and applied for the scholarship. Presented by Reeve Wittstock to Emmett Sawyer who is attending Lethbridge University. $2000.00

Trustees Award sponsored by Jim Northcott to the student with the highest average in the combined -2 stream of subjects – English, Math & Social. Presented by Jim Northcott to Madison Haeh.

Mary Miller Athletic Award sponsored by the Miller Family and awarded to the student that contributed the most to the High School sports program. Presented by Murray Huddle to Lexie Collins.

Acme Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the six town service groups – Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #216, Acme Royal Purple Elks Lodge #103, Prairie Rose Rebekah Lodge #111, Acme Masonic Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion, Acme Seniors Association. Presented to a grade 12 student who has applied for the scholarship, has the highest academic achievement in Social 30-1, English 30-1, and one of Math 30-1 or Math 31 or Biology 30 or Chemistry 30 or Physics 30 and is also attending Post-Secondary education. Presented by Ed Heck, Phyllis Deines & Kim Penner to 1st–Ross Berreth who is at University in Calgary; 2nd–Adriana Miller who is also attending University of Calgary; 3rd-Jessie Phillips who is at Olds College.

Ian Metzger Memorial Scholarship Award sponsored by Rich & Carole Metzger to a grade 12 student who was involved in any or all of the following activities during their grade 12 year – Sports, 4H, RAP and is now enrolled in Post-Secondary education. Presented by Mrs. Meagan Metzger wife of Scott Metzger to Emmett Sawyer.

Kyle Kostrosky and Ryan Wiens Memorial Scholarship awarded to a grade 12 student that showed a passion for sport, education and was highly motivated to do well at both, and also showed good leadership and community involvement. Presented by Mr. Nic Weins to Nathan Esau.

Principal’s Award, sponsored by Kurt Ratzlaff and awarded to a student who in grade 12 showed outstanding contributions to the school as a whole. Presented by Pam Wade & Kurt Ratzlaff to Adriana Miller who is attending University of Calgary in the Haskayne School of Business pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce.

Premier’s Citizenship Award awarded to a grade 12 student based on their overall community service, volunteer engagement and leadership. This student is nominated by the Acme School to the Government of Alberta Presented by Pam Wade to Adriana Miller.

Governor General’s Medal awarded to a student who had the highest marks in both grades 11 & 12 – includes all courses and includes diploma exam marks. Presented by Kurt Ratzlaff to Ross Berreth.
