Beiseker Lions hold 101st Country Fair

The ‘Grand Parade’ for Beiseker Lions 101st Country Fair featured the sun and zero rain. It also had Calgary Stampede Royalty, Marching Bands, the Shriners, Village Mayor Warren Wise, Rockin’ the City Karaoke float, Beiseker Centennial Committee car, Parade Marshal Jim & Edith Konshuk, Lynx Energy, CAA, Fire Department and its Dalmation mascot ‘Benny’, Brant’s Plumbing and Heating Ltd., Napa, Midcountry Automotive Repair (celebrating 25 Years of Service to the Village), Mountain View Financial, East Side Tae Kwon-do Club, and Irricana & District Ag Society.

Winners listed under Commercial Floats were Richardson Pioneer 1st, Canada Malting 2nd, and Fortis Alberta 3rd. Under Community Floats was Beiseker Station Museum’s Sam McGee Cabin in 1st, Irricana & District Ag Society 2nd, and Community Links 3rd. Under Decorated Cars it was Tin Lizzies Shriners 1st, Nerd’s On Site 2nd, and Beiseker Registries 3rd. Under Antique Cars first went to 1929 Dodge Bros and Harry Redding, and both 2nd and 3rd went to Pioneer Acres Museum. Also featured was the 2019 Calgary Stampede First Nations Princess - Astokomii Smith and the 2019 Calgary Stampede Royalty Trio: Stampede Queen Carly Heath and Princesses Keiley Steward and Courtney Dingreville. There was a first for Jackson Hagel on motorcycle, and on bikes it was a 1st for Hannah Hagel, 2nd Holden Hagel, and 3rd Jackson Hagel. A 1st place ribbon for a horse-drawn wagon went to Bill Reddaway. Horse and Rider ribbons went to Payton Hagel 1st, and Melanie McArther 2nd.

Beisker Show Shine 2019

The entirety of main street stayed closed to traffic in order to park the almost 90 vehicles registered for the 15th annual Show ’n Shine, as well as the numerous vendors offering ice cream treats, the very fragrant mini donuts, raw honey, collector-vehicle insurance, hot-rod inspired clothing, purses and various items, and mini collector die-cast vehicles. The Show ’n Shine vehicles included a 1928 Model A Sedan Delivery, 1930 Model A Ford, a 1932 Ford Model B Tudor, 1931 Ford Model 1A Coupe, 1929 Chev Roadster, and a replica kit of a full-sized 1933 Pontiac Coupe. The vehicle dates advanced to the 1950’s, 1960’s, all the way to a 2002 PT Cruiser. Names included Spitfire, Impala, Corvette, Barracuda, Cobra, Mustang, Desoto, Studebaker, Polara 500, Cougar, Roadster, Thunderbird, Biscayne and many more.

Beiseker had many events such as the Breakfast, Beer Gardens, BBQ Beef Supper, Family Dance, Cabaret, Bouncy Houses, Money PIT, 4-H Show & Sale, Slo-pitch tournament, skydivers, and other kids activities. The rain held off until the late afternoon.
