Trochu Valley School Drama Troupe presents a “A Mixed Up Fairy Tale”

TroVal Mixed Up Fairy Tale

The Trochu Valley School Drama Troupe, under the Directionship of Keitha Tetreault and co-Director Marley Lynch and Musical Director Ilona Noble, presented an adapted version of “A Mixed Up Fairy Tale”, written by Susanna Hargreaves.

Originally, the one-act play would have run for about 20 minutes, but that wouldn’t satisfy the audience that has come to expect a full blown musical from these directors. So they set about adding 11 songs well known from the movies, plus another one specially written by Mrs. Noble.

The cast of 31 players included seven Grade 12 graduates, most of whom have been in the past several productions. For this presentation, there was a need for several “little people” (dwarfs) and, as a first, a number of Grade 5 students were recruited.

Whether it was the expertise of those who are veterans or the enthusiasm of the movies, the total program was a delight to take in.

The costume designs are mostly predetermined because of the movie characters portrayed, and the Costume Designer, Almee Krunek (and crew) did an excellent job in reproducing these.

Lighting and Sound Design was under Brian Vokins, with Spotlight being operated by James Tasch. A large crew were responsible for the Set Design and Properties.

In years past, the plays have included a Dinner Theatre on the last evening, but for this year, it was a coffee and dessert offering before the show.
