Dance Celebration looks back at successes

Dance Celebration 2020

While our Dance Celebration studio may be empty at the moment due to the current COVID restrictions in place, when we look back over our 2019/20 dance year we have succeeded in so many goals we would like to take a moment in keeping with our name, and ‘celebrate’ !

In September of 2019 one of our teachers, Lily Davison, passed her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Teachers License - a 2 year post-secondary program that involved over 450 hours per term and 4 Teaching exams. Lily was also the first person to take her SDTA Highland International Teachers license over FaceTime on April 11th 2020 and is now a fully certified SDTA Teacher.

In October 2019, Ashley Savage (Director of Dance Celebration) completed her Tap Associate Teachers exam with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. This involved a written portfolio and a Professional Exam.

On March 10th &11th 2020, twenty-two of our ballet students from Grade 2 through to Advanced 1 sucessfully passed their RAD International exams - just four days before all RAD exams were shut down Internationally due to COVID-19!

Originally we were to celebrate this year with our annual spring Recital called Creation 2020 - and were busy putting the final touches on our costumes and choreography. Now however we will re-schedule it for the fall when we hope that larger groups will once again be able to be together.

Keep posted to The Capital and our Facebook Page for up to date information in regards to the new dates for Creation 2020.
