NEXT COUNCIL MEETING – Monday, August 20, 2018 @7 PM @Carbon Community Hall

UNSIGHTLY PROPERTIES – The Village of Carbon now has its’ own Bylaw Officer. Letters have been sent to property owners that are in violation of Bylaw 2011-776, Unsightly Premises. Fines will be enforced if owners are not in compliance with this Bylaw. We sincerely hope that we can have everyone’s cooperation regarding this matter. Thank You.

MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION – The Village is looking for 3 members at large to be on this committee. The Planning Commission is responsible for future plans on whether, when, how and where the community should grow. The public has a significant role in these discussions and hence we are asking for 3 members to join this group. Please contact Vanessa Van der Meer (CAO) at the Village office if you are interested and also if you require more information.

CARETAKER FOR PARKVIEW LODGE – The Village of Carbon is accepting resumes for a Caretaker on behalf of the Parkview Lodge. The Caretaker must be an independent contractor and would be responsible for the equipment, general maintenance and overseeing the interior & exterior maintenance at Parkview Lodge. A detailed Duties and Responsibilities summary can be viewed at the Village Office.

The closing date is August 8, 2018 and the position will commence on August 13, 2018.

Carbon & District Agricultural Society & Curling Club Scholarship – Scholarship Available. One $500.00 scholarship will be awarded annually.

Criteria for Application: Applicant must be enrolled in a full-time, minimum one-year, post-secondary program leading to a certificate, diploma or degree. Applicants must: i) be pursuing post-secondary ag-related studies, or ii) be from a farming or ag-related background.

The applicant must be a high school graduate and must have completed at least one year in Carbon School.

Previous recipients of this scholarship are ineligible to apply.

Application form must be completed in full and accompanied by:

• Confirmation of enrollment from a post-secondary institution in a program that meets the above criteria (includes apprenticeship).

• Copy of most recent high school transcripts, which include grade 12 results.

• Applicant’s resume, including details of all farm background or agriculture-related activities that the applicant has been involved with or participated in.

• 300 to 500-word essay on applicant’s future plans for contributing to agriculture.

• Two recommendation or reference letters describing the applicant’s qualification and merit for receiving this award.
