2013 Volunteer of the Year
Nominations for "2013 Volunteer of the Year" are now being accepted. The nomination must be in writing and signed; must be submitted by May 31, 2014 by someone other than a close family member, and must be a resident of Trochu or area who has not previously received this award.

2014 – 2017
TENDER FOR CEMETARY MAINTENANCE

The Town of Trochu is now accepting tenders for the (2014 -2017 inclusive) Cemetery Maintenance Contract. The successful contractor shall be required to maintain the site in accordance with guidelines provided by the Trochu Communities in Bloom Committee and to the satisfaction of the Director of Operations/Town of Trochu to ensure the grounds meet environmental and municipal standards. The contract will run from May 1 to Sept 30 annually for the term. Interested contractors are invited to submit a tender to the Town of Trochu by mail or in person by 4 pm April 11, 2014. Trochu Arboretum and Gardens is hiring a summer student to work in the Arboretum as a gardener for the 2014 season. Post-secondary student preferred, but high school student could qualify. Job runs from May 1 to August 31st, 2014. Position depends on acceptance of Arboretum's application for a Canada Summer Jobs grant. The Town of Trochu with a population of 1072 is an agriculturally based community with rural oilfield development. The Town is host to a large meat processing plant owned by Sunterra Foods. Trochu is located on Hwy 21, Highway 585 and close to the junction of Highway 27. It is within easy driving distance to major centers such as Olds, Red Deer and Calgary. The Town of Trochu has an excellent working relationship with Kneehill County, the Town of Three Hills and the Villages of Carbon, Acme, and Linden. The Town of Trochu Council supports Regional Collaboration. The Town of Trochu is in the Three Hills RCMP detachment area and hosts a joint School Resource Officer Program with the Villages of Elnora and Delburne. The Town of Trochu has a total of 12 full-time employees with an experienced support staff in Administration, Public Works, Utilities and Protective Services. The community operates an Arena and Swimming Pool as well as an Arboretum. The Town is eagerly seeking a new position which is the Director of Corporate Services.
Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Corporate Services is a key member of the Town of Trochu's Executive Team. The Director of Corporate Services provides strategic leadership to the Corporation and contributes toward corporate mission, vision and values, culture, policy, direction and decision making. The position participates on the Executive Team in the establishment of strategic direction and coordinated planning of departmental priorities and programs which align with corporate goals and objectives. The Director of Corporate Services works with the CAO to prepare the agenda for Council meetings; researches by-laws, Policies and procedures and also prepares correspondence. The Director of Corporate Services oversees the financial operations of the Town and is responsible for the supervision, planning, and direction of this department and for the efficient and effective administration of the financial affairs including; accounting, financial statements, reports, investments, taxation, the collection of all revenues, grants, and levies; the coordination and preparation of operating and capital budgets and long-term planning documents; and the development of financial and material management policies and procedures; administers the employee pay and benefit programs; is responsible for the tangible capital assets of the municipality ; works with the Town of Trochu auditor to prepare for the annual audit and the assessor of the Town of Trochu to oversee the preparation of the annual assessment; and supervises the administrative support staff. This position is also responsible for human resources and information technology.
