Big Valley Bridge, on Highway 590, closed for routine maintenance

Workers have closed the Big Valley Bridge over the Red Deer River for routine maintenance and repair. The bridge is completely closed and no traffic allowed across day or night until February 22, 2015.
Crews will remove the existing deck, replacing it as well as completing other minor repairs. The cost of the project is approximately $500,000. This work will extend the life of the bridge by about 20 years and reduce future maintenance  the bridge deck.
Travellers will use Hwy. 585 to the south or Hwy. 12 to the north to get around the closed bridge.
Drivers are reminded to obey all flag persons, signs and signals.
Fine for speeding are doubled in construction zones.
