Outdoor Cinema a hit

Black clouds threatened, but blew by Trochu last Tuesday night, allowing close to 180 people to enjoy a movie in the Park. An ACE Communities initiative, sponsored by Servus Credit Union and numerous other Trochu businesses, was well-received after being rained out earlier in June.
People started arriving after 9 pm with their lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray. Fresh Air Cinema out of Red Deer had their giant inflatable screen up and some tunes playing. Kids played around with beach balls, people hit the popcorn and candy concessions, and several door prizes were awarded as the crowd awaited darkness. Several Beblow burners discouraged the mosquitoes.
"Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", an animated film chosen by students at TroVal School, provided some good family entertainment. The picture and sound quality were excellent and the little-used park west of the arena was a perfect venue. The show ended around midnight. A free swim at Trochu's outdoor pool, sponsored by the Town, preceded the movie presentation.
Thanks from ACE goes out to all who sponsored, worked, or attended the event. The park was left practically spotless as committee members showed up the next morning to find hardly anything to clean up. It is likely that an outdoor movie will be booked for next June at the end of school, preceding Trochu's Centennial Canada Day celebrations.
