Quality and yields coming in as exceptional

Harvest 2017

Harvest is in full swing in Kneehill County and according to James Holmes, of BLB Grain Group Ltd., of Three Hills, harvest is about one third complete and results are surprisingly good.

Exceptional quality and yields are most likely a result of good fall and winter moisture. This applies to peas, barley and wheat as canola has yet to be harvested.

This year’s harvest is definitely, “ahead of the game”, as less than 10% was complete at this time last year. In fact, last year’s harvest drug on until spring of 2017. “Barring a real change, we should be done by the end of September,” said James, “Kneehill County is having an exceptional start.”
