Kneehill County supports PCA project

PCA Kneehill

Kneehill County Council, at its Nov. 27 regular Council meeting, moved to formally appoint Peter Tarnawsky to carry out the powers, duties, and functions of Chief Administration Officer as interim CAO effective Dec. 15, 2018. Mr. Tarnawsky was the CAO with Sturgeon County before parting ways in Nov. 2017.

A cheque was presented to David Amendt of Prairie Christian Academy in the amount of $25,000.

Ziggy Kozlowski made a presentation to the County regarding a ‘community idea’.

Road closure

Bylaw 1755 is an application for ‘road closure at SE 30-33-26 W4. Council moved second and third readings of bylaw 1755 for closure and consolidation of a position of the road allowance as described along SE 30.33.26 W4. This road was closed due to a realignment in 1965 and a new road plan registered on title. The closed road allowance was sold in 1996 to the adjacent landowner, but was never consolidated into the quarter, as per the intent. As portions are still officially considered a road allowance and were never consolidated, a new road closure bylaw must be approved by Council so that those portions of road can be consolidated with the adjacent parcels of land.

Farm Family Award

The 2019 Bank of Montreal Farm Family Award is an annual award to recognize farming families that contribute to the Agricultural Industry and their rural community. Agricultural Service Board members made a motion to recommend to Council farm families for the 2019 BMO Calgary Stampede Farm Family Award. Council approved the nomination of the Tainsh family as recommended by the Ag Service Board. Council recommended that Clr. Keiver attend the 2019 Calgary Stampede Farm Family Award.

The annual appointment of an Agricultural Service Board member to replace an outgoing member, to serve on the board for a three-year term is from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 3, 2021. Council approved David Code.

Councillor report

Clr. King provided a verbal report from his meeting in Huxley with his constituents. He first thanked the staff of Deb Grosfield and Christine Anderson for their help. Clr. King was overall quite positive about how the meeting went with most of the conversation being what was contained within the Huxley Overview leaflet, including Water/Ground Water, Wastewater, Roads and Drainage, 2018 Assessment and the Ag, Recreation, Parks and Cemeteries. In the evening session, Clr. King advised that there was also some discussion on “Horseshoe Canyon and where we were going on fire.”
