Chamber of Commerce looking for member feedback on Broadband service

Alan Parkin

Just over 30 Chamber members and guests gathered for the September 19 General Meeting of the Three Hills & District Chamber of Commerce.

RCMP Constable Heffernan gave a brief presentation of some “Business Safety Pointers” that business owners could implement to protect their property from vandals or thieves. In addition to security cameras and lighting and clear sight lines etc. that may be considered, she also made a pitch for “Citizens on Patrol” (COP) and how they are always looking for additional members.

Jacqueline Buchanan, Town of Three Hills Economic Development Officer (EDO), gave the highlights of the “Town of Three Hills Economic Development Strategic & Future Growth Plan.”

A special feature of the luncheon meeting was the brief introduction of the recently appointed Chief Administrative Officer, (CAO) Alan Parkin. He has been busy getting to know the situations in the Town and meeting with various levels of administration and workers, and “touring” the town. He emphasized that his “door is open” for those wishing to present concerns or ask questions. A word that he is planning to take a look at the “Land Use Bylaw” brought forth a very positive response from Chamber members.

Other announcements were to inform Chamber members of upcoming meetings and events.

An “Ask a Professional” Lunch & Learn “session. This is an opportunity to come and ask a Lawyer, Accountant, Bookkeeper, IT, Marketing, Estate Planning, Insurance, Life Insurance, Banking or Investing “Professional” a question… and to do so “without charge!”

The Chamber is anxious to get feedback from Three Hills Businesses regarding the Broadband service they are getting both at their place of business and at home. To that end, members are being invited to go online to take a Broadband Survey. (www.threehillschamber.ca).

Small Business Week and the 2019 Small Business Awards Dinner is fast approaching and Nominations are open as of October 1 and close October 15.

The meeting adjourned at 12:45.
