Olds RCMP Investigate a Domestic Dispute Involving a Firearm in Torrington


Olds, Alberta – On October 16th, 2019 at approximately 1:15 PM, Olds RCMP responded to report of a distraught female in Torrington who called police as her common law husband threatened to kill her. He had a loaded firearm and was in the residence with her as she was on the line with the police dispatcher. The call was cut off abruptly as officers from Olds, Didsbury and Three Hills Detachments were responding. When en route an update was received that the male was walking down the street with the firearm. The RCMP Emergency Response Team and Air Services Helicopter were also dispatched to assist.

Upon arrival at the scene, the male had already departed in his truck. A search for the male resulted in him being located at a business in Olds approximately two hours later. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries reported by the victim.
