Ribbon cut to officially open the newly renovated Carbon Skating Rink

Carbon Arena Ribbon Cutting

The Village of Carbon enjoyed a wonderful community celebration on Saturday, December 7. The day got started with a Christmas Market at the Carbon Community Centre hosted by the Carbon Library from noon to 4 pm. There were 34 tables featuring a wide assortment of Christmas gift ideas. Everything from bird houses to jewelery, crafts and even dog treats were available. There was a silent auction held with all proceeds going to the Carbon Library.

When the sun went down everyone headed for the Carbon Skating Rink where an official ribbon cutting ceremony was held to recognize the addition of the new concrete pad and the new LED lighting. The upgrades to the rink were completed with no cost to village taxpayers. The projects were completed through the provincial gas tax grants program. These improvements have created a year-round multi purpose sports venue that can be used, day or night.

Santa and Frosty the Snowman were also on hand for pictures, old fashioned sleigh rides and to hand out goodie bags to the children.
