Kneehill County Council held their regular meeting Feb. 25, 2020.

Three Hills Victim Services asked Council for sponsorship to assist in the costs associated with hosting the annual ‘Community Conversations Around Elder Abuse’ session. Council tabled any decision to approve a donation until a financial plan is provided.

Discovery Fair & Ratepayer Meeting

The County held two Discovery Fair Ratepayer meetings in 2019, one in Trochu in August (which was well attended) and one in Acme in November (lesser attendance). Administration feels that residents did not fully understand that these fairs were meant to be the County’s official ratepayer meetings. Council approves of these new ‘fair-style’ meet and greets in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where projects and services are highlighted, questions get answered and there is immediate feedback from residents. Dates are being considered for 2020 events to include a free bbq supper, fun-filled activities for kids, door prizes, and interactive demonstrations. The Discovery Fairs for 2020 will be held in Torrington and Carbon within the month of August 2020.

Village of Acme IDP

Council approved first reading of Bylaw 1807 for the Village of Acme and Kneehill County Intermunicipal Development Plan. A public hearing for the IDP is to be held on March 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Council approved the prepared Communications Plan for the proposed Land Use Bylaw 1808 and Council approved scheduling for an Open House for the draft Land Use Bylaw 1808 for April 2, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to be held at the County office

Trochu ICF

There were a number of motions to finalize the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework Agreement with the Town of Trochu. Council authorized the Reeve and CAO to execute the Trochu Transportation Agreement, the Trochu Fire Services Agreement, Trochu Fire Hall Lease Agreement, Trochu Recreation Agreement, Trochu Transfer Site Agreement, and that Council give first, second and third readings to Bylaw 1818, to adopt the Kneehill Trochu ICF.
