Innisfail man faces multiple charges


On September 24th 2020 at approximately 1530, Three Hills RCMP were alerted to a stolen vehicle at the Circle K Gas station located across from the detachment.

Members arrived and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle to apprehend the lone male occupant. The driver ignored Members commands and reversed into a police vehicle causing damage. The driver then put the vehicle into drive, dragging a Member and slamming into another police vehicle before fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.

A short pursuit followed northbound on Highway 21 where the vehicle became disabled due to mechanical failure. The suspect, whom was armed with a screw driver and can of bear spray, fled on foot in an attempt to steal a citizens vehicle. Police were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident.

August Jerry Baker (42) of Innisfail, AB has been formally charged with 18 criminal code and drug offences. Some of these include;

Possession of property obtained by crimeDangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.Flight from police.Assaulting a police officer. Possession of weapons for dangerous purpose.Possession of a controlled substance.Fail to comply with a release order.

Baker was held in police custody for a judicial hearing where he was then remanded.

A second subject was located and arrested inside the gas station. He was later released without charges.

There were no injuries to any members of the public. One officer received minor injuries.

Three Hills RCMP are asking the public for assistance in the matter and are encouraging them to come forward with any information they believe may be helpful in the investigation.
