The biggest keep getting bigger, as western Canadian farmers continue to adopt the most popular wheat varieties, the Canadian Wheat Board's (CWB) 2010-11 Variety Survey shows.
"This was not a year of big change," said Mike Grenier, CWB agronomist. "For the most part, farmers stuck with the tried-and-true varieties, and we saw increased adoption of last year's most-seeded varieties."

A public hearing regarding the ex-hamlet strategy and designation - By-law 1612, was held at the County office during Council's October 26 meetting. It was well attended with ratepayers asking for further confirmation on details and the affect this by-law will have on property they own in the designated area and sometimes, adjacent to it. Council explained that at present, without this ex-hamlet designation, a residence could burn down and due to land-use restrictions, not qualify to re-build. R

RCMP investigate recent thefts/break-ins

 

Tuesday, November 2 at about 5:15 a.m., an employee of the ATB Linden Branch interrupted a robbery in progress. The employee was on a routine walk with her dogs when she heard glass breaking and observed two males, wearing balaclavas, ramming the front of the bank with a Bobcat. Witnesses also saw a white truck and trailer, as well as another truck suspiciously close to the scene. The employee reached a place of safety and phoned the robbery into police.
