Sunterra Meats Trochu wins Award for Innovation

 

At the Central Alberta Economic Partnership's recent 2010 awards ceremony Trochu's Sunterra Meats received the Silver Award for Innovation. Nominated for the award by Trochu Mayor Barry Kletke, Sunterra Meats was recognized for their efforts to revitalize their business and the community through the recruitment and retention of foreign workers, and their successful integration into the local community.

In an official conference held in Calgary on February 18, 2011, the Alberta government announced more than $90 million in provincial capital grants will be used to help develop 1,080 additional housing units for low to moderate income Albertans and the homeless.
This money will leverage project funding from partners for 27 projects in 13 communities across Alberta.
"This is an important step forward for the entire province," said Jonathan Denis, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs.

World of Wheels Winner, built locally

 

At the recent World Of Wheels Car Show held in Calgary, this 1956 Chevrolet pickup, owned by Gordon McKibben of Didsbury, AB, won first place in the Conservative Pickup category.
This truck was first brought to Ben Maerz, of Ben Maerz Customs in Three Hills, to be built.
Ben first built a custom chassis with modern powertrain. He then moved on to removing all rust and repaired all panels. He completely assembled the truck and made it run.
The truck was then disassembled and taken to JBK Autob
