A Carbon resident and 15-year veteran volunteer firefighter, Neil Bertsch came to the rescue of a Carbon-area woman and her child last Friday, October 15, when the car she was driving (likely westbound) veered off into a field after side-swiping his half-ton truck (eastbound) on Hwy. 575, about eight miles east of Carbon at around 4:00 p.m. Neil turned his vehicle around and was eventually able to overtake her car, positioning himself in front of her and forcing her vehicle to a stop. 2010 Unofficial Civic Election Results

 

The 2010 Municipal Election ballots have been tallied up, and the unofficial results are in. Voter turn out at the polls was considered high in all jurisdictions. Numbers are fairly close in each election, and it is evident that "change" was on the mind of the citizenry.

Acme History Book Committee donates funds to Acme Community

Acme History Book Committee gives funds from the sale of their History Book to the Acme Agricultural Society. At that same meeting the History Book Committee also thanked the local organizations who donated funds to help finance the publishing of the History Book and were happy to return the donations, back to: The Acme Elks, 1,500.00; Prairie Rose Rebekahs $1,000.00; Acme Seniors Association, $2,000.00 and the Acme Racquetball Club, $500.00.

During the early morning hours of October 9, 2010, Three Hills RCMP responded to a hit and run that occurred on Main Street in Three Hills. The hit and run suspect vehicle ran over a street light on Main Street and 3rd Avenue, causing excessive damage to property. The male suspects had fled. Police caught up to them, and charged the suspects with flight from police and laid numerous provincial statutes charges on the subjects. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
