CULP, Russell Junior

CULP - Russell Junior Culp was born in Arrowwood, AB March 24th, 1926, and was reunited with family and friends in the presence of the Lord March 13th, 2011. As a child, Junior attended Arrowwood School. During the war years, he left school in Grade 10 to run a small dairy for his Dad. He also dug basements for houses in the surrounding communities with a Ford tractor. He accepted Christ as Savior in 1947 and attended Briercrest Bible Institute in Saskatchewan (1948-49). He married Medora Walker in June 1950, moved to a farm east of Arrowwood, and became involved in mixed farming. He was active in the Arrowwood Gospel Church, and delighted in their four children, Brad, Christine, Marcy and Garth. Farming, John Deere machinery and building was his life. The family moved to Three Hills in 1976 but Junior continued farming until sale of the farm in 1989. Junior leaves to mourn his wife Medora of 60 years, children Brad (Judy) of High River, Christine (Ross) of Red Deer, Marcy (James) of Ovilla, Texas, and Garth (Inga) of Three Hills, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two brothers Verlyn (Marie) of Arrowwood, and Beuford (Fay) of Strathmore, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Russell L. and Gladys Culp, sisters Geneva Burriss and LaDonna Janzen, brother-in-law Gene Burriss, and a granddaughter Lisa Joanne Thompson. A celebration of Junior's life was held at Bethel Evangelical MIssionary Church, Three Hills on March 17th, 2011 with Pastors Dave Lannigan and Harold Hunter officiating. Interment in Three Hills Cemetery. Heartland Funeral Services in charge in arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to Samaritan Purse or The Gideons.
