David Hibbs

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David William Hibbs. David was born on May 27, 1947 in Trochu, Alberta, the first of four children born to George and Ruth (Leischner) Hibbs. He grew up on the Hibbs family farm east of Huxley. David went farming, raising cattle and growing grain, first with his Dad and later with his brother James. On July 15, 1972, David married Faye Painter. During his lifetime, David enjoyed playing hockey with the Huxley Rangers, refing hockey, being a member of the Huxley Legion, the Free Masons and the REA as well attending Kneehill County and Town of Trochu council meetings. David farmed until his retirement in 2013 and moved to Trochu with Faye in 2017, living there until his death at the age of 75 years. David will be lovingly missed by his wife of 50 years, Faye, his daughters Jill (Julie) and Joanna (Dan), his son Patrick and his seven grandchildren, Sam, Madison and Jack Webster, Enver, Arden and TJ Hibbs-Pinney, Scarlett Hibbs and honorary granddaughter, Starla Callingbull. He will also be missed by brothers Tom (Sandee) and James (Joy) and sister Isabel Whyte (Lorne) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. David was predeceased by his mother Ruth in 1989 and his father George in 1995. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or St. Paul’s United Church, Trochu, Alberta.
