Hilda Seidel ~ 1918 – 2011 ~ After a wonderful life, Hilda Sophie Seidel (nee Goetz) passed away peacefully on March 26, 2011 at the age of 93 surrounded by her family. Hilda was born in Piapot, Saskatchewan in 1918 to Jacob and Rosina Goetz.  When she was 8 years old her family moved to a homestead east of Trochu. As a young adult, Hilda trained as a machinist in Calgary. Shortly thereafter she moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she worked in a munitions factory during the war. Mom always shared many wonderful stories of her adventures as a young single woman exploring a new world, such as speed skating down the Desjardins canal from Hamilton to Dudes. After the war ended she moved to Huxley to take care of her aging parents. She spent many years working at Robertson's General Store.  In 1954 she married Rudy Seidel and moved to the family farm southwest of Huxley where they raised 3 children. Mom and Dad lived on the farm until 2006 before retiring in Three Hills. Mom was known for her compassionate and quite personality and those delicious home-cooked meals. She loved her family and worked tirelessly to make everyone's life seem special.  Hilda was predeceased by her husband Rudy (2010) and her 10 siblings. She is survived by her brother Albert Goetz of Ottawa, daughters, Sherril Seidel of Vancouver, Judy Seidel of Priddis, Marilyn and husband Robb Moss of Bragg Creek and three grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah and Laura.
