They then moved to Torrington where his father, Leon, ran a general store. As a family their last move was back to a farm in the Curlew area. He loved helping his parents on the farm and also loved sports, particularly hockey and baseball. This love of sports stayed with him his whole life. He enjoyed many hours watching his children/grandchildren as well as following sports on television. On July 1st 1950 Douglas married Winifred Weatherup. Douglas and Winifred were happily married for 45 years. It was during this time that Doug left farming and started a gravel crushing business with partner Arnold Boese. This continued until Arnold's health failed and Doug then took over the business and continued the operation with Winifred and their sons until 1993. In September 1995 Winifred succumbed to cancer. Four years later Doug married Sheilagh Lammle which enlarged the family to include: Jeffrey (Lucia) and children, Zachery, Isabel & Ashlyn; son Martin Lammle; Byrne (Jody) and children, Angela, Rylan, Brenna & Kayle; daughter Donna Lammle. Doug and Sheilagh made their home in Red Deer, AB until 2009 when they relocated close to their family in Three Hills. During the early years of their marriage they enjoyed travelling. They also followed their grandchildrens' activities with enthusiasm. Douglas is survived by his loving wife Sheilagh, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
