ANDERSON, Frederick Geoffrey

Anderson, Frederick Geoffrey: (1919 – 2010) Geoff was born at the Calgary General Hospital 90 years ago, the 2nd child and only son to G. Fred and Violet Anderson.  He was educated in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.  Geoff moved to Drumheller with the family in the mid 1930's when they purchased a jewelry store and opened G. Fred Anderson Jewelry.  When his father died suddenly of a heart attack in 1955, Geoff suddenly became the sole watchmaker, diamond expert and merchant.  His true passion was walking the valleys around the Drumheller area searching for Dinosaur bones and he was able to take part in some excavations in the area.  He was a member of the Drumheller City Museum and became a Director of same.  He would patiently spend hours explaining the importance of the earth and how it evolved to young people, or anyone who would listen.  It was important to him that this world we live in be preserved for following generations. Geoff was predeceased by his parents G. Fred  (1955), Violet (1979); his sister Marie (2002) brother-in-law, Norman Shearlaw (1993).  He is survived by his nephew Fred (Maria) Shearlaw of Kelowna BC and his niece Linda (Brian) Torpy of Three Hills, Ab.~The family would like to Thank the Administration and Staff of the Sunshine Lodge for their many years of kind and outstanding attention while he was a resident there, you became family.  We would also like to the Thank Dr's Tlhape and Maseka; Marnie & Nikki in Home Care;  and the nursing staff of the Drumheller Health Care Centre for their outstanding care and support.~In lieu of flowers, Donations to the Drumheller City Museum would be appreciated. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.  At Geoff's request no funeral will be held.
