Eugene Skokowski

Eugene Skokowski, beloved husband of Ethel Jasman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Maison Senior Living in Calgary, Alberta. Born at Budlaw, Poland, Eugene came to Canada in 1949. In 1956, he joined United News Wholesales Ltd where he worked as Book Manager and as a very successful book salesman for 32 years before retiring. In 1972 he married Ethel Rosina Jasman and started a long life together in dancing and music. Eugene acted as Secretary for the Main Polish Hall and the Polish Combatant #18 where his band played. With Ethel, he taught Ballroom / Latin dancing / Country and Western for the City of Calgary and together, as professional entertainers, they played for many events and celebrations. Eugene’s quick wit and talents with the piano accordion endeared him to many people. With an eye for beauty, Eugene was a prolific painter, capturing many of Alberta’s landscapes. He lived well, having surpassed 93 years. Family and friends will gather to share fond memories and celebrate Eugene’s and Ethel’s life together July 8, 2017.
