COOPER, Francis Albert

COOPER, Francis Albert ~ Albert Cooper passed away peacefully on December 27, 2010 at the age of 93 at St. Mary's Health Care Centre, Trochu, Alberta. Albert was born in England in 1917 and emigrated to Canada with his parents Francis Allan and Clara Cooper and his sister Betty when he was eight years old. The family settled in the Belgrove district where he went to school. Albert later moved to a farm a few miles west in the Pine Lake district. In 1942, Albert joined the RCAF, training as a wireless electrical mechanic. He met his future wife, Iva Shail, while at Fort Macleod where they were both stationed. Albert and Iva were married in 1946, returning to Pine Lake where they farmed for many years. In 2008 they moved to Trochu. Albert was a lifetime member of the Delburne Legion. His is survived by his wife, Iva, of 64 years; daughters Patricia Ancion of Pine Lake, Anne (Greg) Frolek of Three Hills, and son Alan (Erlene) Cooper of Elnora; grandsons Terry (Deidre) Ancion, Monte (Connie) Cooper; granddaughters Leslie (Keith) Shand, Amanda (Bob) Reitenbach, and Marianne (Leith) Cox; 13 great-grandchildren, his sister Betty Rosengren and niece Heather (Tim) Soderberg of Red Deer. He was predeceased by his son-in-laws Wally Meding in 1981 and Lloyd Ancion in 2007; two grandchildren Michael Meding in 1971, and Mark Ancion in 2003; brother-in-law Art Rosengren in 2003 and niece Bonnie Lindell in 2003. In respect of Albert's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Kneehill Funeral Services Ltd. , Trochu 403-442-2123.
