ROBANSKE, Joanne Martha

Joan Robanske

December 22, 1936 - December 29, 2017 – Joanne was born to Jacob (Jack) and Margaret Reinders of Calgary on December 22, 1936. She lived there while she went through school graduating from Crescent Heights High School. She took secretarial training and worked for Alberta Government Telephones. She met her husband Hugo while hitchhiking along Highway 2 where he picked her up. They dated and were married on July 21, 1957. They lived on an acreage north of the family farm, which was north of Wimborne, previously known as the Brown Place. The first 3 children were born there: Lyle in June 1958, Rhonda in October 1960, and Keith in September 1963. During this time they bought a half section of land southeast of Wimborne and moved a 2 storey house, barn, and garage onto the property. Together they made a farm which included chickens, pigs, and horses. Stan was born in October 1965. Hugo drove school bus and heavy trucks for Ron Gorr and Marshall Williams to supplement the farm income. The family moved to Wimborne in the early 1970’s when Hugo had medical problems. They became custodians at the Wimborne school while Hugo continued to drive the school bus. In September 1995 Stan suddenly passed away and Hugo died later of grief on January 2, 1998. Joanne went to live with Keith and his family in Edmonton where she stayed for 2 years. She returned to Trochu to live in the Manor where she was close to family and could participate in the activities in the Manor. She moved to the Golden Hills Lodge in Three Hills when she had some health problems and spent the remainder of her days there until an emergency arose which required hospitalization. Joanne was a very nice lady who will be greatly missed by many. She leaves to mourn her children Lyle (Veronica) of Calgary, Rhonda (Doug) of Trochu, and Keith (Yochabelle) of Edmonton.
