Frank Smith

Frank Andrew Smith was born on Jan. 02, 1927, the fourth of five children to Andrew Gordon and Ethel (Dolly) Smith. He grew up on the family homestead near Pine Lake (west of Elnora) with four brothers and one sister. He attended school at Fairbanks School where he excelled at track and field as well as hockey and hardball. After graduation he continued to operate the family farm under the direction of Mrs. E. Smith, and in partnership with his brother Stan. In June of 1960 Frank married Audrey Duncan and they assumed residence on the farm where they started a family of four children: Kathleen, Karen, Stephen and Patrick. Through these years Frank was an avid contributor to the church and choir. Frank was a member of the Elks and had a passion for music and dancing. He was a supportive father of the family’s activities including camping, 4-H, and various sports. Frank continued to farm until his son Stephen returned home to assist in the farm operations. Frank supported Stephen during the transition of operations until retirement. When Audrey suffered a stroke in 2011, Frank cared for Audrey with dedication, patience, and undeniable love. Frank succumbed to age related health issues on March 03, 2019. He is survived by his wife Audrey, four children, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. The family looks forwards to sharing stories of Frank’s life with friends and family at a Tribute and Tea to be held on Saturday, March 9th at the Elnora Community Hall 3 to 5 pm.
