PATTON, Rose (nee Bondar)

Patton Rose nee Bondar

Mrs. Rose Patton, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the Tom Baker Centre in Calgary after a short illness with lymphoma. She was 85 years old. Rose was born in 1934 to Pearl and Henry Bondar, the third of four children. She grew up on the family farm and attended Bethel School in her early years with her siblings Harry, Fred, and little sister Nina. Her later schooling was in the town of Three Hills. Rose married Don Patton (also of Three Hills) in 1955 and they moved to Lloydminster, AB/SK as newlyweds. They raised three daughters, Brenda, Margaret, and Donna. They gave their three girls a good solid family life that was passed on to the next generation of four boys. In our childhood there were many visits back to Three Hills over the years to visit grandparents and cousins, uncles and aunts. Mom loved a game of golf, a game of cards, being a Royal Purple member, and visiting with friends. Dad passed away in 2002. In 2009 Mom moved to Calgary to be closer to her daughters and her four growing grandsons. Rose was predeceased by her parents and she outlived all of her siblings as well as their spouses, both on her side of the family and Dad’s. She leaves to mourn her three daughters, Brenda (Shane) Cockriell of Red Deer, grandsons Mitchell and John, Margaret Patton of Calgary and grandsons Tanner and Chad, and Donna Patton of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Also left to remember her fondly her “twin” cousin Betty Gunnarsson of Calgary and her special friend Robert Walker of Regina, SK. She also had several nephews and nieces. Safe travels Mom, we miss you already.
