Cyril Syroteuk

Cyril Syroteuk, loving husband, devoted father and awesome grandpa passed away at home on April 22, 2020 from a heart attack and is now in eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ. Cyril was born May 19, 1958 to Joseph and Mary (Senko) Syroteuk in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and has two sisters: Valerie and Donna. Cyril attended school in Guernsey and Lanigan, Saskatchewan and chose farming as a career. He met the love of his life, Lois (Harcourt), and they were married on November 23, 1979. They were blessed with 5 children: Brandy, Sherry, Jolene, TJ, and Holly. After relocating to Manitoba, a friendship with Pastor Tom Walker led to Cyril and Lois accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Cyril claimed John 3:30 as his life verse – “He must increase, I must decrease,” resulting in them selling the farm and pursuing full-time ministry. The family moved to Wisconsin in August, 1993 where Cyril attended Northland Baptist Bible College. The friendships and spiritual knowledge gained were worth the effort and sacrifices. Cyril and all five children received degrees from Northland. They moved to Kenora, Ontario to begin ministry in January, 2003 where Cyril pastored Berean Baptist Church and directed Camp Bemahdezewin (“New Life” in Ojibway). In September, 2010, Cyril and Lois moved to assist at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Three Hills, Alberta. Cyril began “Deck Dynasty” in 2015 which he loved. A heart attack in December, 2016 found nine blockages, resulting in viewing every day as a gift. He worked hard to improve his business and his health, but lingering health problems led him to scale back Deck Dynasty and join the Three Hills Parks Department last summer. Through the many phases and roles of Cyril’s life three things were constant: Cyril loved God, loved his family, and loved people. On April 22nd, Cyril left behind the family and friends he loved and went home to meet his Lord. He is survived by Lois, his loving wife of 40 years, children and grandchildren: Brandy (James - Isabella) Walden, Sherry (Troy - Jacob, Dixon, Addie) Cole, Jolene (Jesse - Erika, Ryan, Shawn) Hiltz, TJ (Joanna) Syroteuk and Holly Syroteuk; his sisters, Valerie (Brian) Labrash, Donna (Frank - Adam, Josh and families) Novecosky. He was predeceased by: Joseph and Mary Syroteuk, Tom and Nellie Harcourt, brothers-in-law Keith Foulds and Gary Harcourt and sister-in-law Dorothy Dagger (Harcourt). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a family graveside service, with a Celebration of Life service once restrictions are lifted. To know Cyril was to love Cyril and he will be deeply missed by all. Kneehill Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. 403.443.5111
