Ned Fairchild

Ned Allen Fairchild passed away December 6, 2020. The second oldest of four, Ned was born February 10, 1929, near Sunbury, Ohio, to Ike and Flo Fairchild. Following four years in the US Navy, he graduated with a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Ohio State University. He then graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in 1963 and, three years later, went to Iran with International Missions (now Christar). Rachel (Steeves) and Ned were married in Pakistan, where Rachel was teaching, on September 2, 1967. Ned and Rachel served in Iran until 1979 and then in Loughborough, England, until they retired and returned to Three Hills. In 2017, they moved to Golden Hills Lodge where they enjoyed several happy years together. Ned had a servant’s heart and is remembered for his kind and gentle manner and his great sense of humour. He loved the Lord and lived out his faith in very practical ways.

Ned is survived by his wife, Rachel, his daughters, Joanie (Terry) Wiley, and Sharon (Dwayne) Block, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his brother, Terrence, and sister, Mary Jane Corwin, and many nieces and nephews. Ned is predeceased by his parents, Ike and Flo Fairchild, and his brother, Don. The family is deeply grateful to the Three Hills Home Care staff and Acute Care staff for their loving care and support over the past six months. A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 and may be viewed at:
