November 22, 1929 – January 30, 2021

Ernest (Tim) Newton Smyth, a professional storyteller and teaser, sports loving, animal adoring, Whiskey sipping, garden enthusiast, passed away on January 30, at the age of 91. Tim the youngest of four boys, was born at home on the family farm east of Trochu on November 22, 1929 to parents Tom and Margaret (Greta) Smyth. Though still a farm boy at heart, Tim eventually moved into town, where he built his life and raised his family.Throughout his entire life, Tim was involved with St. Paul’s United Church, numerous clubs, volunteer organizations, sports teams and served on many boards for the betterment of Trochu, because he was (truly passionate about his community). He loved to travel and see new places but was always ready to come home. He was a hardworking “Jack of all trades” who loved to lend a hand and have a beer & a “B.S.” when the job was done. Tim is survived by his wife Shirley, son Rob (Sue & Gemma), daughter Kim (Kevin, Morgan ( Tyson) and Riley) Respecting his wishes there will be no service, but please raise a glass to Tim & toast to a life well lived.
