MAERZ, Gilbert Albert

Gilbert Albert Maerz passed away peacefully in his home on August 15, 2020 at the age of 80.

Gilbert was born on the family farm at Allingham, Alberta on October 24, 1939, the 7th of 9 children born to Samuel and Helene Maerz. He was predeceased by his father and mother, three sisters (Adelaine, Ada, Martha) and two brothers (Lloyd, Norman).

Gilbert is survived by his daughter Tamara (John Multon), and his grandsons Tyler and Nicholas, and his great granddaughters Ava, Jae-lynn, and Destiny Rae

VERT-HAZEL, Florence

Florence was born February 7, 1931 to Tom and Ethel Thompson in Vermilion, Alberta. Life on the farm with no electricity or running water was difficult, but there was still time for fun – ice-skating and tobogganing in winter and picnics in summer.

In 1948, Florence married Joseph Vert and eventually moved to Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. Two children were adopted; Janice in 1958, and Dan in 1961. The Vert household welcomed many guests into their home over the years. B

SHEARLAW, Frederic “Fred”

Fred, age 73, passed away on July 12, 2020. He leaves behind his loving wife, Maria; his daughters Kim (Jeremy) Patterson and Heather (Patrick) O’Donovan; his son Mike (Sarah Huska); and his grandchildren Findlay and Everleigh Patterson, Ginger and Bailey Shearlaw, and Riley and Liam O’Donovan. He will also be remembered by his cousins, mother-in-law Elvira (who will miss him deeply, as he was always such a big help to her); his brothers- and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

PETERSON, Robert (Bob) James

Robert (Bob) James Peterson (February 9, 1964 – July 14, 2020) passed away peacefully at Three Hills Health Centre at the age of 56 years. He was the 8th of 11 children born to Albert and Henrietta Peterson. He was raised on the farm west of Trochu and attended Pontmain and Trochu Valley School where he graduated in 1982.
