Bauer Rink wins Farmers Open Bonspiel

The Three Hills Curling Club hosted the Farmers Open Bonspiel from December 29 to January 5. There were 27 teams coming from far and wide to take part. Erskine, Red Deer, Rumsey, Carbon, Torrington, Carbon and Three Hills and areas in between were all represented.

The Bauer Rink made up of three generations of Bauers from Torrington came first in the A Event. This team has Jeff Bauer as skip, Mitch as 3rd, Jordan as 2nd and Daryl as lead.

Potential for new Badlands Basketball Club

Dixon Dunkle, Calgary resident, is seeking to start a basketball club for residents of the Badlands area, encompassing Three Hills and all of Kneehill County. Recognizing that those in rural areas do not always have the same opportunity as those in the city, Dunkle is hoping to base a club out of Drumheller for the surrounding rural areas.

The club would be for those aged 5-18, with a Jr. NBA program for ages 5-12, as well as a U15 and U18 club for boys and girls. On the application for the Jr.

Acme Senior Girls Volleyball bring home Provincial Gold

Acme Senior Girls brought home the 1A Volleyball Gold medals from Provincials held in Bow Island this past weekend. They went undefeated in the tournament with a 25-12, 25-19 score against Bawlf in the gold medal match.

2A Girls’ Volleyball Championships results

Three Hills School and The Royals enjoyed hosting teams from across Alberta for the 2A Girls Provincial Volleyball Championships.

Tournament Co-Chair Michael Vaughan of Three Hills School said, “The weekend was a huge success. It was a weekend of close, competitive volleyball…Rundle College took Gold, Magrath was Silver, Vauxhall was third, St. Augustine was fourth” and the Royals came in fifth.
