PCA Sabres defeat Sundre Bisons 29-28

The Prairie Christian Academy Sabres got their first victory of the Mountain View Football Conference season on Thursday as they defeated the Sundre Bisons 29-28 in a thrilling game.
After the Sabres took an early 7-0 lead on a touchdown run by Ben Schellenberg, Sundre responded with a touchdown, but failed to make the convert. PCA marched the ball down the field again and this time quarterback Kyle Block called his own number and ran in for the score. Alex Binnie again kicked the point-after-touchdown. Sundre scored again before half to make the score 14-13 Sabres at halftime.
Sundre came out in the second half to take the lead with an early touchdown. However, the Sabres again responded as Ben Schellenberg ran in his second touchdown. Kyle Block threw to Parker Schmidt for the two-point convert to give the Sabres a 22-20 lead. However, in the fourth quarter, Sundre scored to take the lead, also connecting on the two-point convert to go ahead 28-20. However, with just over three minutes remaining in regulation time, Ben Schellenberg was able to escape a number of tacklers and run the ball into the Bisons endzone to tie the game. Alex Binnie kicked the convert through the uprights to give the Sabres the 29-28 lead. After the Sabres kicked off, Sundre marched up the field inside the Sabres 20 yard line. However, the defense held strong and Sundre was forced to turn the ball over to the Sabres with just 50 seconds remaining. The Sabres ran out the clock and their players and fans celebrated a hard-fought win.
The Sabres played Tuesday, Sept. 28 in Carstairs and play again in Hanna next Tuesday (Oct. 5) before closing out their regular season at home against Carstairs on Thursday, October 7 at Wilson Field.
