Thrashers to host Teddy Bear Toss, Nov. 20

The Three Hills Thrashers scored ten goals on Friday night and then ten more on Saturday night to earn a pair of victories.
On Friday night the Banff Academy Bears were the visitors, and they were simply overpowered by the Thrashers. In the opening period, Three Hills outshot their guests 16-4 and were rewarded with a pair of goals, one by Jesse Schuenert and a couple minutes later, Nick Bell scored his first of the season. In the second period, the Thrashers continued the offensive barage and scored five times. Jamie Fabian's powerplay goal in the first minute of action was followed by Connor Ablett and Tyrel Severtson's markers. Nick Bell added his second and third tallies of the night before the period ended to make the score 7-0. Severtson's second of the night and eighth of the season in the third period, was followed by affiliate player Eric Reierson's first goal and Tyrel Miller finished out the scoring with a powerplay goal to make the final score 10-0. Shawn Nemeth earned the shutout in the Three Hills net stopping all 11 shots he faced.
Saturday evening the Thrashers expected a tougher battle against the Medicine Hat Cubs. Blaine Hoppins opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game. A few minutes later Matt Wildeman scored, followed by  Ryan Layden, and then by Scott Bell to give  Three Hills a 4-0 lead after twenty minutes.
After the Cubs got on the scoreboard early in the second stanza, the Thrashers replied with a pair of powerplay goals, one by Kevin Belt and the second of the game for Scott Bell. With the outcome of the game secure, the third period saw the Thrashers scored four more goals and the Cubs only beat goaltender Cody Boeckman one more time. Calvin Main scored two goals for Three Hills in the final frame, while Tyrel Severtson and Blaine Hoppins rounded out the scoring.
The Thrashers play two more home games this weekend. On Friday night (Nov. 19) they host the south division's top team, the Okotoks Bisons before facing off against their central division rivals, the Mountain View Colts on Saturday night (Nov. 20). Both games begin at 8:00 pm. Fans are reminded that Saturday night is Teddy Bear Toss night - bring your new stuffed animals to throw onto the ice when the Thrashers score their first goal against the Colts. The teddies will be collected and distributed by Kneehill FCSS to brighten a child's Christmas season.
