The Three Hills Thrashers Jr B hockey team started their tryouts last night at the Three Hills Arena. After a conditioning camp last weekend, Head Coach Ian Hall and his staff will evaluate players over the next few weeks – including last night, tonight, and tomorrow with exhibition games scheduled later in September. Hall expects about 50 young men will be competing for spots after seeing 30 at conditioning camp. There are only 11 players returning from last year’s squad, a team that had the worst record in the North division and the lowest ever finish for a Thrashers team in the league.

The Thrashers will have an inter-squad game for the fans to watch on Tuesday, September 5 at Centennial Place Arena. With puck drop scheduled for 8:00 pm, there is no admission fee so it’s a great chance for fans to see those trying out.

Off the ice, the Thrashers have some changes too. Wayne Sharp will be serving as assistant coach to Hall, and possibly another coach, although Jason Morgan plans to help on a part-time role. The team is also still looking for an equipment manager and trainer.
