U11 Soccer Boys victorious over Carbon

THSA Capital U17 19

The Three Hills Soccer U11 boys team started the week off with a home game on Monday, May 21 against Carbon. This team has improved so much this year. It is exciting to see them play positions and to work together. Jack Perry scored 3 goals and Ezra Stahl scored a goal to bring our total to 4-0. Ezra Amendt and Sky MacDonald both played in goal and kept every shot out of the net.

Our U19 girls hosted Olds for our first home game of the season on Monday night. Due to several injuries and absences, we had to play with a shuffled lineup but the girls adapted. The first half was tight and saw us go behind 1-0 almost immediately. We stayed composed and kept most of the possession knowing things would start to happen, and they did. We scored 3 unanswered goals before Olds answered with 1 after a defensive error and solo effort from an Olds forward. In the second half, other than a couple long-range efforts that came close against us, it was all Three Hills. In the end, Mariah Hildebrandt would complete a hat-trick to go along with several assists and a dominant midfield performance. Esther Ewert’s double and goals from Julia Hildebrandt and Nikki Stewart would finish off the scoreline at 7-2.

On Monday, our U19 boys had a tough game in Hanna with numerous injuries. We rallied but not enough to win the game. On Wednesday, we hosted Drumheller and won 4-1 with goals made by Jared Notter, Carter DeBruyn and Michael Ewert. Don Li, Dustin Schulz, and Dylan Hyshka all had some great offensive plays and shots on goal. Noah Branson, who always plays defense, played mid wing and forward, constantly outrunning opponents and assisting in many good plays. The team has come a long way and are playing well together. Next week, we will be away in Olds for our final game before playoffs.

Our U13 girls played in Olds and struggled with the team. This was the first game that they lost, but Taylor Macfarlane did manage to get a great goal and Alia Wiebe and Kiarra Rempel played goal saving many shots.

On Tuesday night our U13 boys were in Didsbury. It was a fast paced game with Kyler Brown making some great plays and opportunities for goals. He made a beautiful cross to his brother Eli Brown who tapped it in the net for one of their goals. Ethan Koch played midfield and was a consistent threat going for the ball and stopping the Didsbury team from getting it out of their end. Ian Amendt, Josiah Ewert and Colton Zabolotney were on defence and remained vigilant and alert, not letting anything past, even though the ball was not on their side often. Final score was 16-1 for Three Hills.

Wednesday night saw our U11 with another home game against Hanna, with us winning by 3-0. The boys ball handling was fantastic and there was not a shot on our net the whole game. Isaac Boles stood out as he hustled and was able to play any position the coach put him in. Elliott Calverley made some good passes, always looked out for his teammates and worked hard.

That same night Three Hills U15 beat Cartairs U15 in Carstairs (5-0). The kids played really well after many of them were heavily involved in Track and field all day. We had some excellent defensive performances from kids like Reagan Wiebe, Vanessa Parlane and Betty-Lou Brown as we filled the gap of one of our missing team members. James Brown also did an amazing job working hard on the wing and creating several chances. We had goals from Caleb Wolfe, Markus Thiessen, and a great high lob shot from Laura Scott.

On Thursday night both our U9 teams played. Three Hills U9B team played their best game of the season so far against Linden on Thursday. Ethan Mottus was stellar as he scored the team’s only goals putting two into the Linden net. Nathan “big boot” Rivera had some key stops on defence and did well clearing the ball out of the Three Hills zone and Juliette Tetz showed great focus and intensity in goal but in the end Linden squeaked a goal into the Three Hills net in the final couple of minutes of the game to win 3-2.

After a good week of practice the U9A Red Strikers put their skills to the test against the visiting Irricana team. Goaltending duties were shared by Anna Platt and Caleb Savage, both making critical saves. Regular substitutions and positional play helped keep the team fresh, and they came away with a victory.
