The Three Hills Thrashers Junior B hockey club hosted their tryouts last week at the Three Hills Centennial Place Arena.

A total of 31 young men, eager to play for the Junior B squad worked under the direction of head coach Wayne Sharp and his staff. Included among the hopefuls were 10 returning veterans from last year’s team, as well as a good group of local prospects. Three goalies were in camp, including returning netminder Alex Jones. Coach Sharp noted some of the vets appeared to be in a little better shape and many of the newcomers showed promise to challenge for a spot on the team.

The players will have a chance to show their skills in game action during two exhibition games.

The first one will take place Friday night (Sept. 7) in Airdrie against the Thunder. The team will then return home for the only pre-season home game on Saturday night (Sept. 8) as they host the Stettler Lightning at Centennial Place Arena. The Heritage Junior B Hockey League regular season opens in for the Three Hills Thrashers in High River on Friday September 14 and their regular season home opener is one week later (Sept 21) as they host the expansion Lomond Lakers.
