Two Acme High School athletes were among the select few chosen to make Team Alberta Volleyball this summer.

Edan & Avery, both entering their grade 11 year at Acme High School were selected through an invitation process that began back in January 2018.

Club volleyball coaches are asked to recommend athletes from their team that they feel could be an asset to the Team Alberta program. The girls went to a testing night and their names were then passed on to Team Alberta coaches so they could be evaluated throughout their club season. The next step was to attend an ID Camp held in Sylvan Lake back in March. The next round of invites was to attend the Team Alberta training camp. There was five days of training with some of the top coaches in the province. A valuable experience that both of the girls were proud to be a part of. The last day of training saw the girls both get an invite to play in the Canada Cup in Richmond BC from July 19-22. Edan was part of the U16 Team Alberta Blue that finished in 2nd place, and Avery was part of the U16 Team Alberta Black that finished 5th.

Both girls were really privileged to be able to be a part of such an amazing summer experience.

Avery said the training and meeting so many new people were among her highlights of the month long process. Edan really enjoyed experiencing all the different types of coaching and learning more of a mental game as opposed to just a physical one.

Both girls are looking forward to their second season on the senior high team as Acme Redmen.
