Thrashers prepare for Training Camp

The Three Hills Thrashers are very excited, in anticipation of the start of the 2020-2021 season. The Heritage Junior Hockey League has officially granted reinstatement, following a one year leave of absence. All of the details for our tryout camp are in place, and we can’t wait to take the ice on September 14.

Current regulations, recommendations and rules from Alberta Health Services, are being implemented by Hockey Alberta. There will be changes, given the current COVID-19 situation, but there is a framework in place that should allow for a nearly normal season. That being said, travel within the HJHL may change, but the Thrashers should be hosting hockey games in the not too distant future.

As mentioned, Thrashers camp will begin in under two weeks. Nearly 50 prospective players will take the ice, and it could have been more. We have chosen to operate as one “sports cohort”, and have already trimmed the list of participants geographically to remain under 50 participants.

Players from around the area will compete for their spots on the roster, along with a very strong local contingent.

Thrashers coaching and management are very excited and encouraged by both the amount of interested players, as well as their quality. The decision making involved in finalizing a roster will most definitely be difficult, but will certainly produce an exciting team for the 2020-2021 season, and for years to come. There is reason to be excited again in Thrashers Country.
