Three Hills Soccer off to a late start

Soccer had a late start this year, about two weeks later than normal, but we had beautiful weather for our first full week and for that we are thankful. Since the season started late, our teams started games on Monday, and will have at least one, sometimes two games every week through the season.

Bill Peters, Three Hills native, new Calgary Flames Head Coach

After his resignation from the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, in the fourth year of his five year contract, Bill Peters looked as if he might have been headed for retirement. The imminent hiring of a new General Manager in Carolina precipitated his early departure, as Peters felt a new GM ought to select his own new Head Coach and thus chose to step aside. Kneehill Bulldogs are looking for you

The local lacrosse team, the Kneehill Bulldogs, decided to reduce their registration fees to promote the sport and to encourage new members to join.

Mini-tyke, tyke, novice, and peewee prices have dropped from $150 to $50, and bantam and midget prices have dropped from $250 to $100.

“It’s a fantastic sport,” said Amanda Kinniburgh, President of the Kneehill Lacrosse Association.

Leighann Doan Reimer to be inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame

Local community member, Leighann Doan Reimer, is being inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in Red Deer for her outstanding basketball career.

“It’s a great honour to be included in the list of many athletes that have already been inducted,” said Leighann.

Leighann is a part time physical education teacher at the Three Hills School and also substitutes. Her and her husband, Chad Reimer, also own the Subway in Three Hills.
