That's Life March 23, 2011

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate the PCA Lady Sabres for winning the Gold Medals right here, at home, at the 2A Girls Provincial Basketball Championships. You have done Three Hills proud.
Next I would like to mention the 2011 Community Needs Assessment. The Three Hills Social Wellness Committee has partnered with Red Deer College to conduct a Community Needs Assessment in Three Hills. The information collected will help to make Three Hills a community where people of all ages live, work and play in a complete way.
The Needs Assessment is a survey that takes about 20 minutes to finish. It asks for information about you and your views on health care, communication, wellness, general services and possible future programs and developments in Three Hills.
Your name will not be recorded at any time and your views will remain anonymous. The results will be used to guide community program and service development and support funding applications that will enhance the health and wellness of Three Hills. To complete a survey online, go to http://app.fluidsurveys. com/surveys/rhrc/three-hills-cna/ or follow the links at If you would like a hard copy version of the survey, you can pick your's up at BCP Construction, Servus Credit Union, Library, Sears, Kirk's Sheet Metal and many more.
Each survey comes complete with a postage-paid addressed envelope for your convenience. Deadline for completing your survey is Thursday, April 7, 2011.
Does anyone own a pan-pipe or syrinx? How about an aulos or tibia? If you do, you should dust them off and bring them down to the Kneehill Historical Society's Annual Old Time Night on Saturday, April 2 at the Three Hills Community Centre. They're adding a new twist to the usual festivities by featuring really old musical instruments. It's even better if you can play a tune on what you bring along. You can get your tickets through Gordon or Alice Park at 443-7834 or Richard and Doddie Braconnier at 442-4377. You get to eat a fine meal, win a door prize or two and dance to the Five Plus One Band. Now I know when the band started there were five guys and one gal, thus the name Five Plus One. Now there's two gals and three guys so I think they should be called Five Plus None. I don't know, these swinging cats are just "way out, man, way out."
So, don't fret if you can't find a pan-pipe or tibia, just haul your lyre or bucina out of the closet or out from under the bed and bring it down for all to enjoy.
If your nose is out of joint over the recent snow, turn to page 592 of "As The Years Go By...Vol II". Take a look at the pictures of the worst blizzard in Three Hills' history. It happened 60 years ago on March 20, 1951.
That's Life.
