If you know me, and many of you do, you know that when I believe in something I will do everything I possibly can to support it.
That’s how I feel about Senior’s Outreach and the many wonderful services that organization provides to our senior population within the “Regional Community” of Kneehill County.
When I say “Regional Community”, I mean each and every community within Kneehill County. We work together, and have done for several years. It’s amazing what positive attitudes, cooperation and communication can achieve.
Most of you have become aware that Senior’s Outreach is experiencing some financial difficulties. We can all help turn that around.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, a fundraising event will be held at the Three Hills Curling Rink.
“One Enchanted Evening” will include a roast beef buffet dinner, table magic by Master Illusionist John Kaplan, an amazing live auction of decadent desserts, a huge silent auction, a 50/50 draw, a magical stage performance and more.
Major sponsors have already covered all start-up expenses and then some. In other words, we’re already on our way to making this fundraising event an amazing success.
Over the next nine weeks, each and every one of you will have the opportunity to help us make this very special evening one to remember.
We all know that Seniors Outreach is an outstanding organization that provides services that most communities, across Canada, can only dream of. As a “Regional Community” we can take a lot of stress off the backs of our Seniors Outreach Board of Directors, Administrative Staff and Volunteers.
Keep an eye on The Capital for more details as we edge closer to the big day. Together, we can make a big difference and have a lot of fun at the same time.
This weekend Albertans will spring ahead by one hour as Daylight Saving Time kicks in. On Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2 am, clocks are turned forward one hour. In our house we will retire at around 10 pm. We will awake the next morning and proceed to stumble around the house changing the time on our clocks. Later that evening, we will comment on how light it still is at 7 pm or a little bit later, because that’s just the way it is. I assure you, I will not lose any sleep over it.
Don’t forget to pick up your tickets for the St. Mary’s Foundation Jeans and Jewels Gala to be held on Saturday, March 25 at the Trochu Community Centre. See page 5 of this issue for full details.
Next week The Capital will publish its Annual Agricultural Special Issue. Last year, The Capital was honoured by receiving The Best Agriculture Supplement or Section Award at the 2016 Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association Convention in Edmonton. The Award was presented by Genome Alberta. This year we are proud to present a Tribute to 4-H Clubs within Kneehill County as they celebrate 100 years across Canada.
And remember, Three Hills Prairie Christian Academy will be hosting the Girls 2A Provincial South Central Zone Basketball Championship March 16 and 17.
Then on March 23 to March 26, Three Hills and Trochu, through the Kneehill Minor Hockey Association, will host the Hockey Alberta Peewee D Provincials. Please make our guests feel welcome and do your best to take in the action at both of these major events.
