That's Life - April 17, 2019

Well, we’ve all had the opportunity to vote in the 2019 Alberta Election but going to print Tuesday evening for Wednesday mailing does not allow us to print pictures and vote tallies on the front page. After all the advance polls, out-of-riding votes will not be counted until Wednesday with tabulation beginning at 1 pm. Check our website at for numbers as we get them.

Golf courses in Kneehill County are open for business. I’m hearing that everything is in good shape, so make sure you call ahead to book your tee times and get out there for some fun and fresh air, It’s been a long winter.

The Easter long weekend is upon us and don’t forget the Good Friday service on April 19 starting at 10:30 am at the Three Hills School. The free will offering will go to the Three Hills Palliative Care Society.

Congratulations to the Three Hills Curling Club on the 40th Anniversary of their Annual Cash/Car Dance. I tried to buy tickets on March 29th with no luck. I know I was not alone as many regular ticket holders made it only as far as the waiting list. I’ll know better next year. Maybe this has started a new trend for quick sell-outs.

Remember that our school children will be enjoying a 10-day Easter holiday beginning on Good Friday with school back in session on Monday, April 29. Drivers are urged to use special care and caution as the kids will be out riding bikes and playing in the parks.

For the next few weeks I will be promoting the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus and Faculty of Handbell Ringers Concert coming up on Saturday, May 4. The event will be held at the Mt. Olive Evangelical Free Church at 7 pm. The concert is directed by Dr. Robert deFrece, often referred to by myself as Dr. Bob. The only reason I can get away with that is because Bob was born and raised in Three Hills.

This concert is the final performance in their 75th Anniversary Spring Tour. This 55-member choir will not disappoint. They will leave you wanting more and more. Admission is free for all to enjoy but there will be a free will offering during the intermission. All proceeds will be split between the Jubellation Handbell Ringers and Three Hills Mural upgrades.

In closing, I would like to urge everyone to find time, during this Easter holiday weekend, to enjoy some needed rest and relaxation, celebrate Easter in your own way, and spend quality time with the ones you love.

That’s Life.
